My name is Riccardo Re but they know me by the nickname "Basto". My adventure in the world of music began when I was just 16 years old. A friend passed me a guitar and from there I began to explore its sounds, learning the rudiments through a few informal lessons. In fact music had already been part of my life since I was little: I played the keyboard but I did it on my own, without ever performing in a band or pushing myself to more serious levels.
Everything changes just before I turned 18 when I joined a cover band made up of four friends. Initially my role was as lead guitarist but when the singer decides to leave the band I switch to vocals while still maintaining my position as lead guitarist. It was a natural transition for me and I soon became passionate about the role of frontman discovering my true artistic dimension.
After this experience I entered a more serious and heavy metal-oriented project: Carbon Dioxide. I experienced incredible moments with them, especially during live concerts.
In the meantime, for pure fun and for the love of experimentation, I started to try my hand at other instruments: bass, drums, sax and even the harmonica.
Unfortunately, in 2019 I received a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis which forced me to review my musical activity. No longer being able to play instruments such as guitar or drums due to illness, I decided to focus on singing, which allows me to express my creativity despite the difficulties.
Other projects: Shakesnake ( hard rock/glam), Black Lotus (classic heavy metal), Skyriders (European Helloween tribute), Ahrcana (power metal).
Every band, every project, left me something special. Music has always been my way of expressing myself and facing life's challenges, even in the most difficult moments. Despite adversities I continue to live my passion, writing and singing with the same energy and dedication as always.
